NASA's NPOESS Preparatory Project (NPP) spacecraft reached orbit on Friday, Oct. 28, after launch onboard a Delta II rocket from Vandenberg Air Force Base in California at 5:48 a.m. EDT. The mission will provide critical data to advance climate change research and weather forecasting. Officials from NASA and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration discussed the launch and health of the spacecraft at a press briefing this morning at Vandenberg.
