Indonesia plans to end science in schools

Learning about science in school may soon be a thing of the past for primary students in Indonesia. The government wants the subject removed so more time can be spent on things like religion and nationalism. But teachers say the move is a step backwards. Al Jazeera's Step Vassen reports from Jakarta.
Shrinking Nigerian lake left out to dry

Once counted as the largest water reservoir in Africa, Nigeria's Lake Chad is rapidly shrinking due to excessive use and climate change. The lake supplies water to four different countries but it could dry up by the end of the century. Efforts to solve the problem and replenish the lake's water, however, are stuck in the pipeline. Al Jazeera's Mohammed Adow reports from Lake Chad.
London's underground celebrates 150 years

It has been 150 years since London opened the world's first underground rail system. At the time, the tube was an engineering marvel that ran almost 650km. Today, the transport system carries more than a billion passengers a year. Al Jazeera's Laurence Lee reports from London.

Paper-thin computer debuts at CES (1:37)
Jan. 11 - The word's first flexible computer made of paper has been unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. The device comes from developers at Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario and a company called Plastic Logic who say it represents the future of desk-top computing. John Russell reports.
